Well, i’m not a huge fan of trials aswell but i think it’s just badly implemented.
First of all they give you an unfair card advantage + they put a 1x card straight in your opening hand so you don’t have to draw it (there are times where no matter what even my 3x copies card dont want to show up) and then there’s that silly interaction between the neutral trial with just one of the faction, which is also the faction who got the most overtuned general atm.
Saving all the above i think trials they are not too terrible
I hate the continued existence of the card back animation (would’ve loved premium frames), phrasing inconsistencies, missing metadata like faction and expansion signifiers, nonsearchable tokens, objectively bad cards, the unusability of 99% of expensive cards, loot crates, Diamonds, NB customer “service”, countries getting banned from Duelyst and probably more.
There’s way more to love than hate though.
PS: I don’t think Trials are inherently bad, I do think several of them need work.
Did BN do anything by now aside banning russia and adding the diamond system?
They’ve done great job of not promoting Duelyst, afaik.
all these “hidden things” that need to be done. apparently one of those hidden things is making the servers worse and worse.

The artshift since UP makes it more bearable, but yeah - in the first years we were sunk in botox and amputee fetishism (note how male sandshields usually are almost armor-like while female ones makes some severe emphasis on how those are not organic limbs).
Not so much hatred, but i feel there has been little good usage of the main faction keywords as of late. The last Zeal card Lyonar got was just now in the form of Gryphon Fledgeling and i barely recall the last good Deathwatch effect i’ve seen. General usability tools for more uncommon/hard to use keyworks like Backstab and Infiltrate instead of more neat effects IF you manage to trigger them also would help.

That Stygian guy seems pretty OP. The problem with Deathwatch is that it’s a super overpowered keyword that gets out of hand far too easily. CP made a mistake with making that Abyssian’s faction keyword.
I know, Zeal is a great keyword that is underused.
I hate how so many extremely interesting cards, such as crusader, pantheran, venom tooth, grailmaster, rook, and all those legendaries with really interesting animations, are relegated to the shit tier, and simply aren’t even used. They are so damn undersupported, and CPG instead gives support to all these toxic trials that I despise. And even amongst the trials, the only fairly fun ones, are the ones that are near unviable. Wanderer is so damn overtuned, and pointless, and ruined all the fun in highlander, making it overbuffed. The magmar trial’s decent. Sajj is undersupported. Vaath got conked on the head by Kaka. Self harm magmar is meme tier. Most deck ideas simply lack consistency to ever be decent. I don’t want another expansion right now.I just want a massive balance patch, that could buff all those underplayed cards. Hell I don’t even mind strange interactions, that are discoverable. Just make sure there’re a ton of those. Just a huge balance patch, that gives back support to some of those cards, and even redesigns of all those underplayed cards with great animations would be awesome.
Perhaps… it is time to petition the devs? Or boycott Duelyst until a MAJOR balance patch designed by forum-goers is put out? I would gladly participate in either. 
If only we could get 50% of the playerbase to boycott lol. I would hate to see this game die from stupid mistakes
Or if my plans for the year prove successful: make my own CCG pixel art tabletop.
With mobile and lootboxes.
Edit: Also, i guess Deathwatch can be made less explosive if broken down in either ally or enemy deaths, and appropriately balanced case by case? Most current effects makes more sense in ‘on ally death’ cases at least.
I hate Obelysks. They’re balanced in a vacuum, but the fact that players can literally cram their decks full of them is pretty ridiculous. Every single match against Zirix, you’re more or less guaranteed to see at least 5 of these. It doesn’t help that Dunecaster exists as well.

Deathwatch/Life steal is the most thematic effect of the Abyssian Host (in the lore), and for thematic reasons should absolutely proc on enemy deaths. But, it’s indeed insanely difficult to balance right. Stygian’s deathwatch effect would be op at any lower manacost than 7, but at 7 it’s basically too slow to be included in decklists anymore.
Apparently they put this game on the front page of their site, too little, too late.
Much agreed both in faction as in theme, yet i can see both cases being used for different purposes if you put a wall between “punish my foes” and “diminish my losses” effects. Let’s say we break it down into Deathwach (Friend), (Foe) and (All) and different cards have different effects/changes based on this paradigm.
For Stygian, imagine she was cheaper and could give +2/+2 to creatures in hand ONLY against enemy deaths. Suddenly you can’t just give a Saberspine +INFINITY by shoving a bajillion wraithlings down the drain, but you can get one or two triggers more reliably for whatever comes later.
