I was pondering a replacement combo piece for Magmar in the future, when Tectonic Spikes rotates and thought of this nasty little idea:

Reverberating Knowledge
Magmar, 5 Mana Spell
Both players draw cards for each time damage was dealt this turn (max 5).

Kept the mana cost high to make it hard to combo too early with Quillbeast/Sneezy Lizard and put a cap on it since it could become too mill-y otherwise.

Opening Gambit: Your general gains +3 atk this turn if they don’t have an artifact equipped

  • Purpose: It provides burst damage for generals in a similar fashion to how Primus Fist does for minions. Can help naked generals maintain pressure or regain some ground.

  • Comments: It has a specific niche for aggro decks that don’t run artifacts (such as the ones that I run), it’s intentionally not as powerful as Falcius was so as to not “steal games” and it has 3 atk so as to not make Brome Strategos even more overwhelming.

  • Concerns: +3 atk may be too much?

  • Art Description: A floating sword made out of clear glass; somewhat similar to one of Dancing Blades’ “limbs”. It shatters when it dies.

  • Inspiration: The name is both a weapon in Diablo II and Tibia and a martial arts technique (Capoeria), plus I happen to like Dancing Blades very much.
