Just wait for some Magmar waifus. They will be top tier.
Expansion Spoiler Day 10: Horror Burster
I love this card! Design, as well as ability. I think both generals can use this efficiently, especially since it’s a 3-drop, which are lacking in the faction. I have a lot of ideas for this minion! I guess it depends on what a “Horror” is. I’m terrified and excited!
I wish this had a less rng based ability then i would consider it a good minion for the late game and for the early game… if this minion said “transform the nearest friendly minion into a 6/6 horror” then i would say it was really good but right now i can see this changing my shadowdancers and grandmasters. Still a good card though its just i can see the rng really makinh either the user or the opponent really tilted
I share some of your skepticism but this is a very different card from wraithling fury. Wraithling fury is very one-dimensional, no wraithlings, no fury. But If you have wraithlings you can get instant value exactly where you want it and use it immediately with the downside of being dispellable.
This card wants a completely different kind of deck. I don’t think it is suited to lurking fear/dying wish style decks. The last thing you want in a lurking fear deck is for your cheap ramped dioltas/reaver or whatever to be turned into a vanilla 6/6 because of a ping and then cleanly removed, basically giving your opponent an extra silence (although, yes, the wraithlings spawned by reaper would be nice to transform).
I think traditional swarm might be able to get away with it thanks to gloomchaser/zyx bodies surviving skorn and reducing the odds of your dancers/priestesses getting transformed, but just how awkward it is depends on certain interactions. Like, if someone plays skorn vs your priestess + wraithlings + this thing does your priestess turn into a 6/6 and spawn no wraithlings to replace everything that was cleared on the board? That’d be some pretty awful anti-synergy. I think this card has more synergy with a more zoo-y swarm style including a lot of the extra body cards swarm likes and cards that have opening gambits but weak bodies, not in any existing meta decklist.
Very well designed, I think. But overall I’m just not sure it’s good enough to see play.
Note how the only unviable one is Pantheran.
I love this Expansion cards, very very interesting card with cool effect
The value you get from this if it proc’s off…
Its body looks familiar…
A corrupted Pantheran?
That’s what happens when cards don’t see play. They turn to the dark side.
So it’s actually pretty straight forward 5 stats for 3 mana but if it dies you get another 12 stats making it an overall value of 17 stats in the form of 2 bodies, although that may seem very highly valued at 3 mana this is also an extremely easy card to play around as the opponent. This card is a perfect example of what CPG should be making, fun strong cards with smart counter play.
I really like the design of this card.
It’s a clear step up from the tectonicrap Magmar got in terms of design.
This will definitely remind me the akward trade to play around Sylvanas dying wish in HS
This is the second Abyssian card that is 1 mana too cheap, this time for Lilithe.
For Lilithe this is akin to a 3-mana Reaper of the Nine Moons with an even better average use case on the Dying Wish. That Horror better not be a generic 6/6. =S
Are you kidding me with this card? What the heck is going on, CPG?
Fantastic card! There’s definitely an evolution going on here, This set’s cards look really interesting so far, if not bread-and-buttery.
Super happy as well that this is a very good Dying Wish card, I’m super excited to try a viable Unseven/That other Abyssian card deck once the expansion hits.
Also, Khymera just got a lot better with the 6/6 token in the pool.
I don’t believe it will go in the pool. After all, I’ve yet to see a Khymera summon a soulburn obelysk, or a grailmaster get forcefield.
It’s not that crazy you know…
I like the card design and I can see it going into swarm type decks. However, because it has dying wish I’m not convinced it’ll be good enough to keep up with the current meta. Since its not a card you actually want to play on your 3 mana turn because you’re unlikely to have any minions alive on the board for it to transform. If you do have minions the chances are the opponent will deal with them first before pinging, using cheap removal or Skorn to kill Horror Burster. Then later into a game you don’t really want it transforming a key minion or a minion which is better then a vanilla 6/6. Which only leaves it in a small window of opportunity to play it at a good time while only transforming a small minion into a 6/6. While if you got a load of small 1/1 wraithlings out in the later stages of a game you probably don’t need Horror Buster since you’re likely to be in a winning position.
But I’ll be trying it out anyway.
That’s interesting, I remember some talk when Excelsious was revealed that Klaxon may be a corrupted version of it. Maybe it’ll be shown in the lore that Abyssian capture and corrupt soldiers from other Factions.
That Horror can’t move I think
like Battle Pet Rok, low cost - w a big body
if that were the case It would probably be stated on the card, more then likely the Horror is simply a 6/6 token.
