i was just rummaging through the game files and chanced upon a folder labeled “runes”. I don’t think I’ve seen these before. Do you guys know where these pop up inside the game?

I feel like these look like the stuff that floats in the background somewhere. Can’t recall off the top of my head. Maybe matchmaking screen background?

Try looking really closely at the obelysks and details on weapons and spells.
Somebody get me an image of an obelysk, a gate, a riddle, grincher, and probably a bunch more

hmmm i think we really can match some of these up. the runes on these obelysks are embedded in their sprites though. If that’s the case, the obelysks don’t (need to) open the “rune alphabet” game files. Some of these runes look like chinese characters too. hmmm
I think I sort of get the labels now. so they start with ‘f’ followed by a number that defines their position from left-to-right.
e.g. f1 = lyonar. f2=songhai, f3= vetruvian… etc
And that sort of makes sense since the obelysk runes match up with f3_runes.

These are menu icons (collection, codex, crates ect, ect)

In the resources’ naming, f1-6 is used to define images which are used for one of the six factions.
My guess, these are the swapping symbols that appear behind your general when you’re matchmaking and just got a match. Too late for me to test whether that’s true right now.

So it looks to me like this set has five distinct kinds of runes. Going from top to bottom, I’d assume Lyonar, Songhai, Vetruvian, Abyssian and Magmar. If you look at them like that you can see how that’d make sense especially with Songhai and the second rune set.
But then where’s Vanar?
Vanar doesn’t have writing at all, maybe?
I might have missed one of them. I’m pretty sure there’s six of them. sry about that.

yup! I saw a glimpse of it. It appears in the back of the generals when the disembodied voice announces the factions.
