Duelyst Patch 1.86 – Duelyst

Duelyst Patch 1.86 is expected to deploy June 22nd around 11AM Pacific Time

Card Changes

Circulus – Health decreased from 3 to 1.

Circulus doubles down on Arcanysts’ strength of creating additional cards, in addition to being an early-turn play to contest mana tiles. By decreasing Circulus’ Health to 1, we’ve made playing Circulus more of a risk, and players will have more options to answer it on an undeveloped board. This change will weaken the Arcanyst Vanar deck a bit in short-term, and also impact its eventual strength alongside our upcoming expansion.

Prismatic versions of Circulus are disenchantable for full spirit value for approximately 1 week after the change.

Stun – Now dispellable.

Stun has always been a bit of an odd mechanic in action. We’ve seen numerous new players expect stun to be dispellable – either because of their previous digital card game experience, or because other buffs and effects in Duelyst are dispellable. It wasn’t as much of an issue when Stun effects were rarely used, but as we’ve added more stuns to the game, it’s time to clean it up! Now that stun is dispellable it’ll behave in the same way as other buffs and debuffs in Duelyst, and you’ll find some situations where dispelling a minion or your General is exactly the play you needed.

Circulus - About time.
Stun - Doesn’t have problem with it, but it’s a welcomed change. Maybe we will be getting more stun synergy in the next expansion?
Collection update - About time we have internal support for deck export/import

Now the throngs of Vanarcansyt will be able to fight each others by casting Mana Deathgrip on the freshly cast opponent Circulus

From whjat has been exchanged here, I’ll bet on 1rst of August

Thanks for the changes, please continue doing so. The game has some no balanced cards, and if you don’t change them, the player base will be angry and stop playing, case and point, Mogwai.

This will either be enough to put vanar arcanyst in line OR it won’t be a big enough change to put them down. Either way I am super happy as I can now ping it with battle panddos or the hundreds of pings in abyssian.

I am a little bit disappointed by the changes to the collection manager.

Exporting / Importing decks is nothing new, there is a great script out there to do that for a pretty long time…
But what with a search or a filter function? It is a mess to look through all my decks!
Is it so difficult to add there what is possible in the deck selection screen? Like this new color thing, I’d love that in my collection!

Which doesn’t even need it that badly because it is a huge screen and it is way easier to find a deck there than in this tiny sidebar in the collection!

Sorry for this outburst, I get annoyed so often working on my decks…

Thanks for your continued work!

They listened guys! They actually listened!

Do you guys think that lowering the health of Circulus is going to make it significantly weaker? I think the problem is more the cycle than removing it

It is definitely weaker now as it dies to so many pings but I don’t know if it will weaken arcanyst vanar as a whole significantly.

Deck importing is actually the best part of this patch

Maybe it will be enough to make some players move away from Vanarcanyst because they think it will be less efficient after this patch.

The problem to me, is not Vanarcanyst being overpowered (honeslty, most of the time I happily give a good spank on the first 3 I met on Ladder) … the problem is that too much players are playing it, thinking it’s easy mode, and it’s boring as shit (and usually also, after the first 3 Vanarcanysts/day, I just concede on first Arcanyst cast by a Vanar).

As an early play, its significantly more risky (can be answered by a multitude of cards, from Lava Lance to Dark Sphere to Bloodtear Alchemist). As a late game/mid game play, you need to chain more spells in the same turn in order to achieve the same hand-filling power. Still, it will probably continue to be a strong draw option for Vanarcanyst decks, which is what its supposed to do, just a little more of a gamble.

Ah… now bloodtear will kill vanars consistency flsamazing man, i read importer/exporter as internet explorer.

Coming to a collection page near you, we’ve now included a deck internet explorer!

Other changes are really nice.

We already could do it. https://duelyststats.info/scripts/scriptlist.html#scriptlist-collection-enhancements

They should add the other stuff like easy disenchanting too.

Enjoy the nerf while you can!..
Circulus is calling the Calvary…

Circolus nice change at least now it easier to kill it and now those who wnat arcanyst decks prehaps need some extra card draw. And the stun thing, amazing change. I like that I can now dispell it, it makes a more insterting match, where I can eaither dispell myself or the minon to attack agian or just wait and or dispell the enmeny minons/general. it also makes those situation where vanar can stun your general several times in a raw gone. At long u got a dispell in hand.

Nice, now I hope I will see some new cards soon

Prediction: Circulus is near unplayable now.

Between Mana Deathgrip, Abyssian’s endless pings, neutral options in Bloodtear Alchemist & Skorn, now able to be killed by Rasha’s Curse, Battle Panddo, Ghost Lightning, etc… every faction has an easy answer to it. And because it’s such a big threat when left alive, people will 100% tech these cards into their decks (though some of these cards don’t even need to be teched in, they’re already apart of most decks).

Technically Circulus can still be combo’d with Owlbeast and spells late game, but IMO the biggest problem with Circulus was T1 Circulus to threaten mana -> T2 CC, Aspect, or Flash Freeze + 2-4 mana play for no card advantage loss -> T3 Game already completely snowballed.

This nerf also significantly weakens the player 2 Circulus on mana tile plays. Previously, you could P2 T1 Circulus on mana tile + Frigid Corona or CC + Flash Freeze the opponent’s minion. You can still do that now, but it’s a horrible tempo loss since the Circulus will just die to a minion or general or ping in either case.

Because of these significant weaknesses I will be surprised if Circulus continues to be played in a meta filled with easy pings. And personally I think Arcanyst Vanar is going to take a huge blow because it can’t sustain it’s CC+Mana Deathgrip+3000 other spell plays without Circulus refilling the hand. I could be wrong here, of course, since Trinity Wing & Blue Conjurer still exist. At the very least however I think this will eliminate the stupid early game blowouts & snowballing that Arcanyst Vanar could pull off.

Very good stuff!!
Especially happy to be able to filter on decks before queuing!

I have this weird inkling we’ll be getting at least one card that stuns in the expansion

And maybe a differentiation between dispelling everything and dispelling only effects (or even just a debuff dispell which leaves buffs intact)?

  • Circulus was not the problem,
    Just a part of it:
vanar can still ramp, owlbeast is still a great powerhouse and blue conjurer will still be a pretty unfun card for new and old players alike.

  • stun
I don’t know other players, but i won’t use ephimeral shroud on first turn to move my general  .
Anyway, it looks like a good change.

  • (magmars untouched)
… How much power will factions get in the upcoming exp to leave magmars as they are?
(Ok, they are not the end of the world with lavaslasher, makantors and a 9 out of hand damage (which draws 3 cards, but who cares) that costs 1 less than spiral technique and leaves a body,
At least, i’m not having too much problems against them)

  • utility changes are really really good
