Duelyst Patch 1.84 – 1 Year Anniversary – Duelyst

Duelyst Patch 1.84 – 1 Year Anniversaryby Counterplay Games / April 26, 2017

Duelyst Patch 1.84 is expected to deploy on April 27th around 4PM Pacific Time

April 27th marks one year since we left Beta and officially launched Duelyst, and we’re excited to celebrate this anniversary with you. Thank you everyone for being part of this community, building decks, playing matches, climbing the ranks, streaming and watching streams, competing in tournaments, memeing memes, and everything else we Duelysts do. We’ve got lots more Duelyst coming, so here’s to another great year of gaming!

With this patch we’re launching our first new game mode since The Gauntlet debuted back during Duelyst Beta!

Rift Mode

We’ve temporarily replaced The Gauntlet with a new experimental game mode for you to try out – a continuous draft with cross-faction card choices! This mode will be active for the month of May, and afterwards The Gauntlet will return along with any Gauntlet runs you had in progress.

Choose a General from 1 of 4 choices

Level up and evolve your deck including cards from ANY faction.

Gain deck rating when you win… and lose rating when you lose. Make crazy decks, go for the highest score, and let us know what you think of this mode!

Anniversary Quest

To celebrate with all of you, we’ve added a special quest. Log in before May 12th and win one match in the new Rift game mode to receive your gift box. Oooh what could be inside??

Note: this quest does not replace your regular monthly quest, in May you’ll still be able to complete 15 daily quests for a common crate key as usual.

Weekly Boss Battles Continue

We’ve got a whole slew of new challengers loaded, and they’ll continue to show up with new unique mechanics and fights. Check in weekly to see them all!

How About Some More Lore?

Chapters 31-35 have been added to the Codex

Upcoming Roadmap

  • iOS Beta currently in limited testing, ramping up to wider testing soon.
  • Android build being prepped for initial testing.
  • Continuing card expansions throughout the year.

Don’t Forget Your Free Keys!

If you haven’t already, you can claim free Common Crate Keys for following Duelyst on Social Media.

Wot? Gauntlet has already existed (they replaced it, I don’t know why, I hope it’s only because they’re worried about player numbers and that doesn’t mean “oh, Rift caught on, Gauntlet won’t come back”). It looks very similar - you still have to pay for a ticket and you still draft, just more randomly and with different rules. Levelling is different, I guess, but we still don’t know how much it matters.

I say this is more of a fun gamemode/ way for players to relax in comparison to Gauntlet, as one of the major arguments with Gauntlet was the heavy imbalance between factions (with Faie and Reva specifically being the top ones due to their BBSs and cardpools respectively).

With this mode, players start out with decks and slowly level up to expand their deck. Also, I believe that this is an unlimited gamemode, where you buy a ticket to start a run with a different general while retaining the other generals/drafts and their levels (until the event/gamemode expires). These facts alone can make it more beneficial and a more enticing gamemode for players (in my opinion) in comparison to gauntlet. However, I can also see your point with player numbers (which was one of the reasons why Gauntlet initially was only open on the weekends and Wednesday).

WOW YES!

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr chars

New game mode, new prizes, NEW LORE!?!

For me it looks at least as try-hardy as Gauntlet when it comes to competing for rewards. Neither Gauntlet nor this is close to a real fun mode like Tawern Brawl in HS.

The misbalance is caused in a big part by their BBSes - now you can get even more support for them, e.g. build a pure aggro Faice deck if you’re lucky enough to draft more Rush minions and buff spells. I think some generals will be stronger than others in this mode as well, especially that few of them lose potential to draft synergy even more than in Gauntlet.

Could be, but you might as well lose if you lose x times at the bottom of a level or something like that. From business perspective something like that woud be more beneficial than infinite runs.

Is there anywhere I could go to read up more on Rift mode? It seems exceptionally fun but not as clear as I’d like (Multiple decks going at a time? Ratings? Will there be another competitive ladder? How many cards will you get in your starting faction vs other factions? What rewards will we get aside from bragging rights and sick replays of Bangle + Ankh shenanigans? Etc.)
New Bosses look cool too, do I sense a Boss Black Locust in the works? (rightmost purple-y/black one) At any rate, can’t wait for tomorrow!

 no happy abyss emotes :lilithfrustration:

that purple thingy is definitely a Zor lol

Awesome!! but why only during May?? And when will it return next? If player numbers is an issue, could do Rift some times a week and Gauntley others. I think that would be better than one month Rift and the other gauntlet.

How do you get a deck to Level 3 after drafting a Calculator WITH NO BATTLEPETS?

Super hyped for the new game mode and the crate quest! As far as bosses go, I’m going to say far left is a war talon, middle is a zukong, and far right is z0r. Also, more lore! God is that stuff good.

I’m not really interested in the new game mode and, despite loving a good tale, I’m not interested enough in the characters to want to know more about them.

New bosses are cool, though. The AI is too forgiving, imo, but it’s probably very hard to tune that. The only time I’ve logged in in the last week was to fight the new boss, though, so I’ll probably keep that up.

The Rift sure looks fun and I will definitely check it out. I was planning on hanging out in the gauntlet anyway but since its getting removed for now it looks like I’ll be doing the Rift instead.

Does anybody think that that Z0r boss will summon lots of Mechaz0r!s?
