Duelyst Patch 1.76 – Duelyst

You are not allow friend. From what I can tell, it is that a spell jammer can now deal 6 face damage instead of 2, while still drawing cards. I.e. 3/1 instead of 2/2.

So basically the spell jammer player gets more value from the body than before (without having to lose it on their turn). I expect some silly lyonar slo into spell jammer turn 1 when going second.

At 3/4, it would have been a slow enough body that it would not enable aggressive decks, while providing an effect that benefits the owner assuming that they are not under enough pressure to kill the spell jammer on their turn.

I think spell jammer as before will see play in the fastest deck in the meta game, however this time it will be lyonar and vetruvian for it being an alternative to 0 mana battle pet on mana spring into dialtos.

well idk what to say
as for the battle maps -- we should have at least had the ability to choose either player 1 or player two if we were to collect 2 but oh well -- first and last one my fav omg reminds me of dark magician

you guys are amazing with the nerf update i was expecting december to see changes but im glad how prompt you guys are.

as for the nerfs… well they look more like buffs to me at least my call on fox have found its justice if we losing to fox we need to say gg and move on .We might see a rise in magmar slightly… skron answers all reva and can tradde with four winds i think skron buff was more surprising to me guess we would have to wait and see how impactful this patch would shake up the meta.

hope no more salt from the community until broken expansion comes out lol good job overall see you guys on the ladder

just bought abyssian map first game player 1 went fine n all but second game player 2 after game ended it froze

The times I had 2 faction quests randomly (and thus had to play 8 games) I struggled to get through it. Other times I played many matches anyway.
Point is, for casual players or players with a fulltime job or similar circumstances/situations it will be harder to complete the quests, and may indeed lead to frustration.

On the other hand I like the idea of playing more and still having a goal beyond the four…

On the third hand it might lead to me playing less gimmicky-fun-meme decks and more serious decks, because it’s easier to complete quests with those, which would be a HUGE pity, but might not be true… dunno.

at least it isnt to win with a certain faction as other games have done which is definitely alot harder to obtain as a new player

Sorry to complain again. But I don’t believe a word. You want to decrease earned gold - simple as that.

I tell you how I think the new system works:
a) so called “casual player”:
Players like me that simply don’t have the time to spend hours every day in the game. 4 to 6 games a day are an OK amount of time - relaxing a bit when coming home from work. The collection was growing over time and is OK to good because of an average of - let’s say - about 75 gold a day. This felt rewarding some kind.
The new situation is different. Because of the limited time I play 4-6 games a day as before and simply get just half of the gold. The new system does in no way encourage me to play more just because I don’t have the time to do so.
b) so called “engaged player” (btw: implying I’m not engaged):
The point is shorter here: The engaged player already plays 7-10 (or more) games a day. The collection is already complete or nearly complete so the more gold the engaged player earns now doesn’t matter that much. The higher gold average is hardly an incentive to play more or less then before.

To summarize: The new system hits the so called casual players and basically does nothing for the engaged players.
And I will throw a point into the discussion the Devs seem to ignore (because there’s a third group of players they don’t look at): What does the new system do to new players?

Simply happy with the patch

Me too  Great Job CP!! Thx
Why all that complaining…Dont Forget that the Packs are already very generous…The Gold System too…With Little more afford (lets say 5 games more a day) you can earn more…It is fine…
New maps are Great
Nerfs are good
Compare it to other games like HS please…İt take them half an eternity to nerf/Change Cards…
Great and fast work CP…Keep it up…

Good patch. A bit disappointed though with no new season cards, a shame to break the trend. Will December be the same since expansion is released?

Sylvermyst and I discussed the changes of this patch. If you are intersted check out our review:

“GREAT PATCH CP ! I love it ! It’s perfect !
But I broke my laptop, send me a new one ?”

XD

Good thing I didn’t update my guide thread this month otherwise I would have had to start over.

The changes seem like CP read the ideas players suggested in the forums and applied them to the game.
Can’t say these will improve the balance but maybe it’s the correct path.

Which is bad I think. Players are not objective.

Does anyone know if new battlegrounds have unique music themes? It will be amazing if they do.

I can speak from personal experience only.

After my quests were done, grinding to get 15g every 2 wins was BARELY worth the time and effort now that I am in diamond. Making it 15g/3w has pushed it over the line. I am not spending an hour of time to earn 15g unless I happen to feel like wasting that hour anyway.

It requires 6-10 hours a day of gameplay for the new system to break even with the old one.

The net result for me of this change will be to play less.

Sadly, if on the other side some “casual” people play more and from time to time spend a couple $/€ on it, that’s win for CPG.

Because I guess they prefer to have 5 new player and 1 among them spending some money on orb/whatever than 10 old players that don’t spend anything and play less … but are still a little hooked to stay.

I’m sure they are doing what makes sense for them and the game, and I won’t begrudge them that.

It’s just my one-person data point. But I think it is true of a lot of people.

They could have balanced this to encourage causals to play more without discouraging more devoted players from playing more. But it’s obvious that nerfing gold earning was part of the goal here, not just getting casuals more involved.

This game is small and is currently shrinking, not growing. ANYTHING that discourages gameplay, no matter how small, is IMO a shortsighted strategy. I mean, I can’t see how it is going to net them much additional revenue. I could be wrong.

Even for “casuals” these changes are dubious. That enticing 50g quest can take 2 hours to complete. One of the things that people always said about this game was that it was generous because you could earn close to a pack a day easily in about a half hour of game time. That’s now no longer the case.

Why would a game that relies on word of mouth and that is demonstrably doing worse than it did two months ago remove a prime reason for devoted players to recommend it to their friends? I don’t understand, honestly.

I’m with you 100% on this Qelt, and it really does suck for those casual players like me that have been kind of teetering on the edge, and really wanting for something to try and pull us back into it. I have some really good memories playing this game, and love the community, but for a long time the game just hasn’t felt fun :unamused: People will say " why are you playing something that you don’t enjoy", honestly because I feel deeply vested in this game, and want to see it do well. So it wasn’t so bad to pop in for a bit each day, play a couple games, and have it feel like it was worth the time spent, but with these changes it feels like way more of a chore, and honestly just not worth it for me. People will say i’m just whining, but I can’t help how I feel about it. I’m still gonna pop in from time to time and see how things are going with the new expansion and whatnot, and i’m curious to hear if any longtime players are feeling the same way as me

I am now going to play to do my quests, and do my stream and that’s it. I have better things to do with my time than spend an hour grinding a meaningless ladder to get 20 cents worth of cards.

Don’t get me wrong, I do still like the game, I enjoy playing it (and streaming even more, because of the social interaction). But I also USED to enjoy occasionally grinding a bit of extra gold. Nerfing that by 1/3 makes it far less appealing.

I think a very viable way to encourage casual players into playing more would have been the introduction of a third quest slot, with a longer and valuable quest for that slot and a slight nerf of the gold for the other two slots. This way, players completing only two quests per day would get slightly less gold, with the compensation of a partial completion of the bigger quest. Hardcore players, instead, would just get more gold.

Having more quest slots increases the flexibility of doing dailies, which makes it nicer to new players and people with limited time for the game. At the moment we have one faction quest and one longer quest per day, which is almost the worse in terms of flexibility: either you do that or you gain less gold. This is a game and it’s supposed to feel relaxing, isn’t it?
