Nice patch, the new units look fun. In the future will there be a way for free players to aquire keys for crates on a regular basis besides hidden achievements? e.g getting keys based on your rank at the end of the month. 1 common key for silver, 1 rare for gold, 1 epic for diamond etc
Duelyst Patch 1.69 – Duelyst
considering the fact some people add you to find out when you are streaming that maybe a useful feature.
We’re aware of the situation but it won’t be available for Patch 1.69. Rest assured we are working on it.
Congrats on this patch-- the new features look great! As someone starting their first dev job and getting familiar with a release schedule, I feel like I finally understand why all those ‘simple’ features I want on my favorite games don’t ‘just get added now.’
Re: Feedback regarding the mystery crates, I think the biggest issue has already been mentioned- how bad getting a duplicate emote feels. On that note, part of the problem is most of us started with half the emotes, so we were likely to get duplicates. To compare to spirit orbs for a moment- I bought 80$ when they were first released because I had very few cards in my collections, and was unlikely to get duplicates. Now, I have most of a collection so I’d never spend more money on orbs because they give me little value (Shim’zar-specific orbs will change that!). New players now won’t have any emotes, so the mystery crates will work fine for them-- with regards to duplicates.
That’s not the only issue I have with the current system though. I find it disappointing how generic the cosmetic packs are. I’d much much much rather discrete ‘Emote,’ ‘Prismatic,’ and ‘Profile’ packs, or some other system the categorizes them, maybe by faction or theme. That way I could be incentivized to open crates of particular interest to me. The duplicate issue notwithstanding, different cosmetics are of different value to different people. I find the profile images needless since I already have one I really like, and I don’t care for the prismatic cards at all, but the new emotes I find very cute. As it is, even if I were a new player I wouldn’t be motivated to open mystery crates because the majority of the cosmetics in it I don’t want.
Yes, great patch. Time to break out the wallet for dem alt. general accessories…
Is it possible to get Prismatic Mark 2 Generals?
I love you, Counterplay, but please, please, please, chill with the cosmetic prices a little bit. 8 bucks for a general skin seems a bit excessive, in my opinion. And emotes are overpriced as hell. I do not know what stats you are basing your pricing on, but I genuinely believe you can get more money by knocking down those prices. Considering the game has an international following, it can be difficult for some people in various regions to afford those. Plus, I would think it is easier for a person to just impulse-buy an emote for a buck, as opposed to 2 bucks.
I am no financial expert, so I might be completely wrong here, but I just think the cosmetics cost too much for the Counterplay’s own good.
P.S. And yes, I am totally crying since I can’t afford them. Goddamn Russia, stop ruining your relationships with all of the world, goddamit, I want my skins in vidyagames.
Hey Emil! I finnally mannaged to hook my ppals on thi game all over again, the first time they gave up cause there was no spectate mode and we couldn’t have fun watching each other, will the spectator mode be coming soon?
Otherwise, great patch, I have nothing to complain about, that’s saying a lot.
MarkII generals look so cool!
Lots of good points made here. If I may interject one…
I think it’s very important that spirit continue to be usable for cosmetics. There needs to be an outlet for players who accumulate cards faster than they can use them. This game is quite generous when it comes to card drops, which is part of what attracts new players (it is true for me and others have told me so). That means experienced players will have more spirit than they can reasonably use and they need something to spend it on.
Cosmetic embellishments are exactly the right thing for this, a way of showing off one’s veteran status without affecting gameplay. Similarly, allowing their purchase for cash helps fund development without creating imbalances.
wait, no balance change?
I heard Devs would balance change End-Season patch
I’m sad now
Almost no one accumulates cards faster than you can use them. I’ve spent like $150, play daily for 6 months, and still don’t have everything
If you’re going for pure cheese (cloning the metadecks and nothing else), the vast majority of the cards are cards you’ll never use, thus accumulating those cards is, definitionally, accumulating them faster than you can use them.
Same logic applies to single-faction fans, and probably a few fringe groups I’m not aware of. The point is, not everyone is a completionist, and there’s a lot of flex to the concept of “using them.”
I’m new so I can’t say for sure. But I have read of people earning 4-5 orbs a day through gauntlet, and I saw a pic earlier in the week of someone with over 1,000 of a particular card. Add in prizes and so forth and it suggests to me some people have a LOT of spirit (either already disenchanted or “on the hoof”).
Buyed the Vaath-Skin
First time spending Money on the game but dont regred it and i support the devs…love it…love the decks that will rise with the monthly cards…the first time all monthlys are good…
I think it’s very important that spirit continue to be usable for cosmetics
It is better for you sure, but my opinion is that CP is giving away a lot of his revenue by doing this. It is largely accepted by F2P players that cosmetic can be only bought with money (in fact it is the model chosen by the vast majority of F2P games for a reason). Considering the very high price tag on the cosmetic and the fact that you can buy them with spirit, veteran players have almost no reason to break their wallet while they would have probably done it otherwise. For example the only cosmetic I bought was a avatar for 500 spirit , if I could not buy it for spirit I would have bought for 1 dollar maybe even 2.
It’s not better for me personally, I have no spirit AND no interest in cosmetics.
It is good for the game because players who earn excess cards need something they can convert them into. If they can’t, they get frustrated or bored and they leave.
All in all I thought this was a great patch with meta relevant cards and some really nice cosmetic features ( the MK2 generals look sick VAATH SMASH!!!
) the s rank issue does stink since the point system starts this month. But I think it’s a great final tune up before the expansion. Well played Counterplay
️
They all look great, looking forward to buying the Vanar ones to support my favorite faction.
Already saw them in some games. So good!
Lost my cool and opened a chest. Got a Healing Mystic emote, all is great today.
