Congrats on this patch-- the new features look great! As someone starting their first dev job and getting familiar with a release schedule, I feel like I finally understand why all those ‘simple’ features I want on my favorite games don’t ‘just get added now.’
Re: Feedback regarding the mystery crates, I think the biggest issue has already been mentioned- how bad getting a duplicate emote feels. On that note, part of the problem is most of us started with half the emotes, so we were likely to get duplicates. To compare to spirit orbs for a moment- I bought 80$ when they were first released because I had very few cards in my collections, and was unlikely to get duplicates. Now, I have most of a collection so I’d never spend more money on orbs because they give me little value (Shim’zar-specific orbs will change that!). New players now won’t have any emotes, so the mystery crates will work fine for them-- with regards to duplicates.
That’s not the only issue I have with the current system though. I find it disappointing how generic the cosmetic packs are. I’d much much much rather discrete ‘Emote,’ ‘Prismatic,’ and ‘Profile’ packs, or some other system the categorizes them, maybe by faction or theme. That way I could be incentivized to open crates of particular interest to me. The duplicate issue notwithstanding, different cosmetics are of different value to different people. I find the profile images needless since I already have one I really like, and I don’t care for the prismatic cards at all, but the new emotes I find very cute. As it is, even if I were a new player I wouldn’t be motivated to open mystery crates because the majority of the cosmetics in it I don’t want.
