Duelyst Patch 1.69 – Duelyst

Whew. This was a lot to get done so soon after the last patch, but we pulled it off gang. And to boot we’re breaking the cardinal rule of patch releases by bringing it to you on a Friday. We expect to release this patch today 7/29/2016 in the afternoon PST.

August Monthly Cards

We’re introducing 4 new cards for the August Season!

General Skins added to Cosmetics

![](upload://uKeaWwH5rj9l6xS79jNFL8nQ2Ue.jpg)

We’ve been teasing the Mark II General skins for some time on Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube. The wait’s finally over: the skins are available in the shop and inside Mystery Crates.

Each skin is Legendary—you can craft for 3000 Spirit (or purchase for $7.99 USD).

New Emotes

Mechaz0r bundle, Phalanxar BM, and Lady Locke? Yup: we’ve got ’em all fresh out of the emote oven. Grab some while they’re warm.

Live Streams added to Watch Section

![](upload://omsZmWP33M0NkojWWa3oc5K2cZ5.jpg)

We want to show some of community streamers extra love, so we’re introducing an experimental section where we will be showcasing some of the best folks’ streams in-game. When one of the select streamers goes live, they’ll be showcased in the Watch section.

New Codex Chapters

![](upload://qnQrbb3zxzb4jWlbNDWnneKBpFW.jpg)

We’ve added 3 new chapters to the Codex including: The Golden Age of Peace, The Ascension of Emperor Sargos, and the Construction of the Monolith. Finally learn about who built the Monolith and why!

The game requirements for unlocking the earlier chapters have also been reduced.

Share Replay in Chat

![](upload://gnx0hrzz3Y3zjbOxKEVJi0Iprjs.jpg)

You can now share your most recent game replay with a friend in chat. Go forth and spam your buddies to relive every moment of your elite usage of that new Artifact Sajj deck.

Minor Changes and bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue with in-game opponent mute.
  • Fixed an issue where prismatic cards were not showing lore.
  • Fixed an issue with clearing CC data in the shop.
  • Fixed an issue with adding a mix of prismatic and normal cards to a deck.
  • Fixed an issue where prismatic Seven Sisters cards could be found in Mystery Crates.
  • Fixed an issue where canceling a Gauntlet Ticket paypal purchase was causing an non-dismissable load screen.
  • Sped up the card play animation slightly.

Let us know what you think on the Forums, Discord and on Reddit.

Holy fuck, the stream section is so big actually. It’s one of those “experimental features” that will greatly help the community if it proves successful. I’m not sure is it in obvious enough place to get the attention it deserves though. The best idea would probably be to directly put the streams going on in the right side of the main menu. With such things, making it the most obvious as possible makes the big difference. At least that’s what TF2’s stream section thought me when they removed it from the actual main menu and shoved it somewhere in the corner which generally caused stream views to drop. Oh well, well see how much the viewership will rise, it’s a good start.

OH BOI BOI HABEMUS PATCH!!!

Pretty excited for the generals skins and the new cards, also… More lore to be translated and readed. Hope this patch will be up soon as possible.

we now have 4 more reasons to play extra aggressivly with our generals

so…no changes to the S-system?

THE most anticipated feature considering August actually counts for pro points.

The camping is gonna be insane this month.

I like the patch, but have to throw in that I don’t like it that I tried out the mystery crate thing and missed out on possibly getting the new general skins. Maybe just stupid on my part, but I think that despite that it’s worth mentioning that after trying it out, I don’t have much of an incentive to do it again. I basically get 75 spirit for 2 emotes I already had and a prismatic rust crawler, the result with a rare crate was comparable. I guess, to be honest, I really don’t like this system, where you are presented something you have won, then you have to pay for a ‘won’ item, and then you get a rather pitiful spirit reward and nothing new. I think it would actually be better if you could just buy these crates, no earning, not only would you sell more crates to people that do like to buy them, but it also feels less like a ‘toxic gift’ to those who do not like it. Otherwise, add in the profile icons too (unless they are already in, only tried 2 crates) and guarantee it will give you only new or at least one new cosmetic reward. If this is the wrong place to mention this kind of ‘review’, please let me know.

Have any statements been made about their promise to recompensate players for Spirit Orbs opened before 1.68? They previously stated that players wouldn’t lose any value regardless of whether they opened their Spirit Orbs before or after Prismatic cards were released and that their decisions shouldn’t be influenced by the upcoming Prismatics - as someone who’s been opening Gauntlet orbs to finish off my Ranked deck because of this statement, I’d very much like to see them follow through with it.

Any updates on the kickstarter physical rewards?

Well, no trace of the two things I was hoping for: Denizens of Shimzar announcement or a way to get free keys for the crates.

Still, great patch as always.

The twitch implementation and replay share are both huge features.

That Mark II Kara skin, and that new Snowchaser emote. Alright, alright, you guys got me.

I’m with you. I’m not dropping any money on these worthless loot crates. The rewards are pitiful for the price. Dropping $5-10 just to get some emotes, which I already have half of them. So really I’m just paying $5-10 dollars to get a really sad amount of spirit, maybe an overpriced profile pic. The whole mystery crate system is really bad. I’m just as disappointed as you.

The skins aren’t TOO unreasonable. I’d rather spend $8 on a skin than $10 on a handful of emotes and a prismatic (which are underwhelming btw)

Edit: Sorry if this is really salty. I personally would love to throw more money at this game but the pricing of the cosmetics make me feel like they’re trying to milk me

Two major points:

  1. the lack of balance changes indicate that the Shim’Zar expansion is very, very close. I have never been more excited for a patch not introducing balance changes

  2. If you want to play Faie, you better get the alternate skin. Her MK1 skin just screams that she is going to freeze to death. The MK2 skin finally gave her a coat

I don’t think the Vanar faction is afraid of the cold. Just look at Fenrir Warmaster! haha, that being said I do really like her new MK2 skin.

We will be talking about this soon. It’s more challenging than it appears and we will have something in place to help deal with the challenges in the current system as it relates to World Championship play.

Same for me. But I’m pretty shure that they think the prices over. They’re absurd as they are now.
This reads like salt but it’s not meant to be. Don’t know if I wrote it in this forum or at reddit some days ago: When people have the money and are willing to spend it and don’t do it (and I count myself to this sort of people)… then something’s wrong with the pricing.

And just to say something about the patch directly:
I’m super-hyped but I would feel better if it would come at 1st of august and not two days before. I still not hit diamond and this patch will not make things easier for me. And I just don’t have the time to rework my decks at the moment…

I totally hear your point of view on this point and there’s a lot we want to improve on with regard to mystery crates, but we have to live with the data for a little longer than 10 days and see what’s actually happening in aggregate.

One of our objectives is to make sure that mystery crates ALWAYS feel good and not “on average”. Opening an Epic crate should feel roughly like spending twice as much (or more) spirit or money in the shop. It sounds like in your case this wasn’t the case?

Hi Emil,

Thanks for chiming in on this. I haven’t seen any devs comment on reddit or the forums about the mystery crates.

I think a big problem with wanting to spend money on the crates is that the returns on redundant cosmetics is discouraging. I don’t mind getting redundant cards on packs because I can choose whether or not to spend money on them. If I buy them with gold and get redundant cards, no big deal. But we have to spend money on the crates, and the prospect of not getting much of a return on them just because we could very well end up with emotes we may already own makes me just not want to buy keys at all. I haven’t even bothered to open an epic crate because of this.

You’re right that you probably need more data on making the crates feel better, but then knowing that why would I spend money on an un-optimized mystery crate system? Is buying keys and putting up the results somewhere the only way to give useful feedback?

PRAISE!
New cards are here!
Also i love that I can send replays to my friends and watch twitch streams in-game! This game is on the right direction.

Problem with crates the way I see it is simply the ability to get duplicates which then automatically convert into spirit, and as soon as you see that animation happening, followed by a tiny amount of spirit it simply feels bad, even if you’re not necessary at a loss. When I get a dupe card, at least I can keep it in my collection and think to myself “I’ll save it, maybe it will get nerfed and if it doesn’t I’ll just DE it myself” and if I do DE it, I actually feel like I’m getting something because I’m instantly crafting another card. Iunno, maybe it’s just me being weird, but I doubt I’m the only one feeling this way.

Maybe this isn’t the place for this but good to see it’s being addressed.
