Discussion Thread: Bandai Namco's Uselessness

Let us take a moment to consider what Bandai Namco has done for Duelyst:

  1. Forced the devs into silence about game updates.
  2. Banned players in certain countries for no apparent reason.
  3. Took a part of Counterplay’s profits.
  4. Added a “& More” to every email subject, which we all know means “& giant Duelyst expansion just released, but CP didn’t choose the super-premium partnership package, so they don’t get decent advertising.”

Now let us take a moment to let Bandai Namco ban me from Duelyst.

And now, let us have a fruitless discussion (or not)!

I’m disappointed. I’m not banned, and no one’s throwing around salt yet… :sob:

The basis of your post may inspire commentary and discussion, but nothing of constructive value. Your ridicule serves no purpose going forth for Duelyst and its community.

If you want a critical discussion, may I suggest you pose questions, suggestions or your opinion (with explanation).

  1. This never happened. All of the devs are welcome to post here, including former devs who are still active in the community despite no longer being with CPG or BANDAI NAMCO.
  2. The reason these players were banned was for legal reasons. I spent quite a bit of time doing my best to explain this, and even fought to get players who were banned back, thus the reason @alplod is still able to at least play Duelyst. We are legally unable to do business in certain countries due to either local or international laws. I wish there was more we could do, but laws don’t change easily.
  3. …and used those proceeds to pay for things which have helped to improve the game.
  4. & more! CPG doesn’t pay us on some sort of subscription package model. We work as partners, and both companies have done their best to help Duelyst grow and succeed.

I don’t think I need to ban you for this. How about if instead I say that I understand you’re angry right now, and we leave it at that?

Cheers,

Stormshade

Now I know you were never able to post a statement about what exactly those issues where as you aren’t a lawyer but would it have been possible for a collaboration to happen?

Did a developer just close my thread for …what again?

Since this is a fresh thread, let me put out a question again since when I came back to my thread and saw valid but extreme opinions, it was closed for “having nothing else to add” and assuming “conversation was devolving rapidly”.

If you’d looked closely, it was just 2 individuals stirring up trouble. I empathize for that. But-

Sometimes, it’s good to moderate threads like this, but I don’t see the same thing happening on Discord where they have much active and honest debates there? People can be honest, but in the end, they’re still opinions. The witchhunt never happened. No one is out for anybody’s neck, we’re genuinely concerned about the game, because we are long-standing players who have supported it since its release. Some may just be more aggressive than others.

I opened that thread to discuss about the future of Duelyst moving forward. It’s declining, and you should know that. And I wanted people’s take on that.

Please judge criticism fairly, also, this thread name is sort of red-flag’ish in the first place. If anyone wants a more in-depth and constructive discussion on the state of Duelyst right now, please let me know.

Or someone else can make another one Titled: Discussion Thread: (Something about Duelyst’s state of affairs)

Thanks,
Loyal Fan

You are quite right, sir.

That’s not what I was saying. The devs will get in trouble for saying ANYTHING about the new expansion, even that there will be one, despite the growing concern in the community that the game is dying.

Of course. The same legal reasons that made you change the name of Bloodletter to Facestriker…

Ok, I guess I just haven’t seen any evidence of this from Bandai Namco’s side. But I’ll trust you.

:joy: I was joking about that, you know.

Thanks. Can you delete this thread though? Or at least tell me how I could do it?

I’m not actually angry, I just think Bandai is doing nothing. I would be angry if I was CP.

Sure thing, boss.

Yes. I totally agree. This thread should be deleted ASAP… I just don’t know how.

I too would like to know how to delete this thread… for… reasons…

So you are the Bandai Namco insider!

I actually have no ability to moderate on Discord, and Thanny and I worked to hand that channel over to the community. So, we “devs” have no power there any longer. In other words, I can’t control what happens on Discord, and I would be foolish to try and do so, as it is a vastly different medium than the forums.

A collab DID happen, which is why there’s a rather epic post explaining what regions are limited, and how they are limited. There are also numerous people from the forums who looked into the laws and posted reasons why the actions that were taken had to be. However, again, I’m not a legal expert. So I will refrain from commenting on the issue further.

May I ask why you want it deleted?

Thanks,

Stormshade

While it would be nice, the only method is to ask a moderator to do so. (@akurane was one for awhile, dunno if he’s around to do so. @stormshade is also capable of closing a thread.)

Is there any reason for it to exist? I think not. Truly, it was a mistake to create it in the first place. These are my opinions, but there is no discussion here.

Very well. I’ll meet you in the middle and close it.
