Deck Tech: Arcanyst Hatefurnace

Playable Furnace?

Also, if this really picks up steam people are literally going to rally outside of CPG HQ to nerf Rag.

First of all, thanks for sharing your research and for being creative

But.

Hmm. I did also try Rag in such deck due to the obvious thought that buffs go well with rippers. But the inability to quickly refill hand appeared to be problematic. Loreweaver+ Starhorn BBS is the most valuable combo of my deck attempts. Though I agree on better earlygame and reach.

That said, Arcanyst SlowFurnace seems to be unreal idea to me. You made it work, but I guess it’s more of your piloting skills than actual deck power. The reason is that of Mag control tools both Rebuke and Plasma are countersynergetic with the deck concept, and Kinetic Equilibrium is meh.

I also noticed that you have not much high attack minions. How useful Furnace is in this case?

Well, I’m speaking here like I know everything  But my own experiments failed, so I will probably just try your deck and see how it goes

Yeah so I’ll be the first to say that this isn’t an easy deck to pilot. It’s got a whole lot going on and a whole lot of lines to get there. Short and sweet of what I found in the Rag vs Starhorn debate is that with Starhorn you get a faster furnace but that’s about it and it actively makes your bad match-ups worse. Specifically aggro and kiting artifact decks where Rippers can actively help you in those scenarios. In terms of hand management there is some difficulty but Fugitive does really help out and Trinity Wing is a whole house of refill just on its own and I’d actually argue it’s one of the most powerful cards in the game if its bond goes off. In terms of clear yeah neither of the big ones work but Diretide is great for staying back and letting people come to you while Kinetic can really help with the swarmy little minions. Also I feel pretty strongly about the choice of Rag since there’s this real power in developing Rippers alongside Arcanysts where you’re developing multiple must answer snowballing threats which is oftentimes not possible to deal with which puts you in a great position to start winning with whichever one they don’t answer. Also yeah Hatefurnace is really a very late game tool here but it does allow you to outscale most things and close out a game very quickly once it does come out.

Rag probably does need a nerf but given the innate difficulty of piloting this deck I don’t think it’ll be a problem. Really something you need to put the time and effort into if it’s going to be good and that’s not usually the kind of deck that gets popular. :stuck_out_tongue:

do you have a link of the image on a higher resolution? i’m having trouble reading the text there. tnx!

I believe it’s intentional. If you want a better image - follow patreon. Am I correct, @rhacker93?

Rag also has the ability over Starhorn to buff the eggs when you have no board, I’ve found this very useful (especially when running Rebuke or Plasma)

It wasn’t originally intentional (though you are correct you’re able to download a higher quality picture through Patreon) but I do think I like it as a benefit since those people are supporting me and I’d like for that to have a little bit of an upside especially since I’m releasing the techs out to the public anyway.
