Absolutely. I’ll say with confidence that Swarm Zirix is the strongest deck in the game. The strongest variants, imo, are the ones that forego Nosh-Rak. I find the card unnecessary for winning games, and it harms the consistency in the flying combo.
Best counter? I’d say the best counter to the deck is Hyper Swarm Lilitthe due to Swarm Zirix’s lack of AoE. The most commonly played deck on ladder that can counter Swarm Zirix seems to be Obelysk Zirix, which is faster, and can snowball if dervishes get out of control early.
I’d say there’s only 1 card that’s NOT a staple. That card is Aymara Healer. The meta isn’t filled with enough Magmar’s and Lyonar’s to make it worthwhile. I suggest swapping Aymara for something like Sandswirl Reader for more large-minion removal (especially for Aegis Barrier’d minions). Sunset Paragon is something I want to try as well to help soften matchups with Lilitthe and opposing Swarm Zirix. MechaZ0r! too.
Is the deck op? Probably. But I will say that the meta heavily favors this deck to begin with. It counters all of the Burn Cass and Wall Faie on the ladder, and can outpace Titan among other things. The counters to this deck just aren’t favored in this meta, and as such, this deck capitalized on that fact, Honestly, the most commonly bad matchup this deck has right now is the mirror match. I can see a world where Skywing gets the Golem Metallurgist treatment to tone the flying combo down. But until then, I can at least appreciate that it’s a new flavor of deck that has been all but a dream in the past. So I’m glad that Vet got a chance to spread their wings and fly. I do enjoy the deck, both playing with and against it. If it does get pushed out of the meta, or otherwise hit with the nerf hammer, there will be a part of me that will miss the deck.
I can’t say this is really a Vetruvian-ish deck archetype. Both Golems and Flying minions are available to all factions. As it just so happens though, Vet has all the synergies. I guess if it’s gonna be a thing, there was gonna have to be a faction to wield it.
