Hello folks and welcome to a brand new thread series called Let’s Compare where we take a look at some of Duelyst’s cards and compare them to each other in terms of their! In todays session, we’ll be taking a look at two of Lyonar’s most…impactful cards to date! Namely, I wouldn’t have to type this if you read the title, Peacekeeper and Excelcious.
##Peacekeeper
As a part of the Ancient Bonds card set, Peacekeeper brings with it Lyonar’s signature impactful provokes alongside a whole slew of keyword abilities and Golem synergy. Clad in classic Lyonar blue and gold, Peacekeeper’s dual shield style is highly reminiscent of the Sunforge armed forces. Despite it’s ability to airdrop onto nearly any part of the battle field and it’s tendency to float from place to place to place, it’s high durability armor prevents it from simply flying through the battlefield at the benefit of resisting the first hit it takes (warranty past the first hit not included). Blaze through the battlefield with Peacekeeper today!
Pros:
[details=Summary]* It has Airdrop enabling you to drop it on any unoccupied space
- It has immediate value given it’s a provoking FORCEFIELD minion.
- Forcefield makes it harder to kill
- Celerity and frenzy enable it to take out large swaths of enemy forces without sacrificing mobility
- It costs 7 mana so you can still combo an Aegis barrier or sunbloom or whatever else you want with it.
- It’s a Golem so it has access to golem synergies (you can get it out earlier using Golem Metallurigst)[/details]
Cons:
[details=Summary]* It’s a 7 mana minion so most of your turn will be that (no Div Bonding this sucker until next turn)
- Without Aegis Barrier it’s susceptible to spells
- It only has five health so once the forcefield is out (or if it gets dispelled) then that’s a relatively easy kill
[/details]
##Excelcious
What’s better than a Giant Sword? A Giant Sword that you can swing TWO TIMES (and also gets bigger when you heal something, but whatever). Lyonar military tactics deem that “Bigger is Better” and Excelcious definitely suits that part! Long flowing hair, a pretty swole bod, AND a GIANT SWORD, there’s no problem that Excelcious can’t solve! Taxes hitting you pretty hard? HIT IT WITH A SWORD! Term paper due tomorrow? HIT IT WITH A SWORD! Can’t draw a card? Well you’re shit out of luck. Anyways, Excelcious makes sure that there’s NOTHING standing between you and victory in the battlefield (unless you didn’t heal enough, then that just sucks)!
Pros:
[details=Summary]* Immediate value upon play b/c of his provoke
- Can get to ungodly stats due to consistent healing
- Still gets buffed even after played so you can buff him up like crazy
- Can still apply Aegis barrier if played at 9 mana
- Has celerity and provoke so you’re almost guaranteed a large amount of damage
- OG stats are 6/6 so even if unbuffed, he can be 12 damage
- Fun to play[/details]
Cons:
[details=Summary]* He costs 8 mana with no way to get him for cheaper
- If dispelled he would be a 6/6 for 8
- Requires a healing deck to get him to insane amounts of value
[/details]
