A basic card I’ve never seen given love by the community (in terms of play), I thought this would be an interesting card to look at.
Note: This card is actually 5 attack, 4 health
What is your opinion about flamewing?
Why do you think this card, and flying as a whole, sees such minimal play in Duelyst, especially given that Duelyst utilizes positioning (unlike other CCG’s)?
I like it. But, flying minions, although they can be useful have no real use most of the time. You’ll usually be close to your opponent anyway. Their only use iMO is to bypass minion walls or Provokes.
Decent card, most of my gauntlet wins can be somewhat credited to this card. I would never put it in any constructed decks because there are ample cards that are better value for 4 mana. Although It has flying and can bypass most of the board state to take out threats, there are just so many options that are statistically better for the advantages they bring.
Still waiting on Old Flamewing to be revealed this expansion.
I used to use it in some of my earlier Vet decks since we have “cough cough” a slight “problem” with dealing with ranged threats. Although Blood of Air should help with that problem. Back on topic, It’s actually a pretty decent card. The reason it isn’t used is because there is too much competition for the four mana slot, most notably from faction minions.
The problem of flying is that it’s strength can usually be emulated by skilled positioning and foresight - thus making other minions a better choice, because they offer more power in other ways that are not as easily achieved by playing smartly. However, it’s still a 5/4 for 4 mana, and especially in vanar this minion can be a true gauntlet star.

Saw alot more when I first started playing duelyst bow I only see them in gauntlet and they are annoying.
So Veteran Flameblood would be a Vet card? We already have an expensive Blast flier though

flamewing would be so much nicer as a 4/5 imo, itd def see more play
