Rarity: Legendary
Set: Unearthed Prophecy
Cost: 7
Stats: 5/7

Notes

  • Alabaster titans always equips Sky wind Glaives,Halo Bulwark, Arclyte Regalia

  • Spell in your hand don’t count so you can play L’kian, Rokadoptera,Alcuin Loremaster, Mindwarper, Twilight Sorcerer just as long as you don’t replace the spell into your deck

  1. Did the card match your initial impressions of it? Is it better or worse than you original thought?

  2. How often do you see this card on the ladder? What deck do you think it is good in?

  3. If you had make one Minion or Artifact to support Titan what would it be? Or another way putting it what type of support does this unique archetype need ?

You don’t have to talk about the questions alone feel free to discuss the cards lore, art, and fun interactions along with competitive viability in this topic

New discussion every Monday ,Wednesday and Thursday,

  1. Nah I thought this card was just another shit late game Lyonar minion. But now it’s easily my favourite minion in the game and it is actually an insanely powerful opening gambit which usually wins the game instantly or locks down your opponent. The drawback also isn’t something simple like Elucidator. It encourages an entirely new style of deck and I would compare it to Reno Jackson because it makes you warp your deck for a powerful effect.

  2. Not very often honestly. I think it’s best in Mid-Range Argeon because it achieves its full potential when the user has a considerably stable board presence so cards like Dancing Blades etc. help to achieve that.

  3. I would make another card that synergises from having no spells in your deck. Would make it a 4 mana artifact that helps as a removal tool.

  1. My initial impression was this could be interesting but all over place because lyonar artifact vary from good to scary but with the proper support it could be interesting. The card turn out better than i thought because it draws from set artifacts which made it consistently do something. Also Duelyst has fair amount of cards that are able to fill for spells.

  2. I have never seen it play on ladder personally but i have seen on occasion from people in community trying the card on streams. I use to think it was better in Tempo “ish” Argeon but Ziran and the healing package has built in set cards like sunforge (lancer being kind of win con) and Sunriser (acting as mini holy immo) that make a Titan a interesting choice.

  3. This is kind what i think Alabaster titan decks need

Amun-Ra
Type: Unit
Rarity: Rare

Cost: 9
Stats: 9/9
Effect:
Opening Gambit: If you have no spells in your deck,Pick a awesome spell

Awesome spells

  1. Heal yourself for 20
  2. Summon the last your 6 minions that died this game
  3. Destroy all enemy minions on board

Apollo

Type: Unit
Rarity: Rare
Cost: 5
Stats: 4/7
Effect:
Opening Gambit: If you have no spells in your deck,Destroy nearby enemy minion

Gold Tip Scorpion

Type: Unit
Rarity: Rare
Cost: 2
Stats: 3/1
Effect:
Opening Gambit: If you have no spells in your deck,Pull an enemy minion in front this minion

I wouldn’t mind seeing couple more minion building on the no spell concept.

the reason why you never see the deck on ladder is that it’s a VERY good deck that none play.

Also head to DO the card is discussed every day!

Titan is a very strong win condition that seems to work best in Argeon with a number of lower cost minions. The reason you don’t see it much is because you need 3x Titan and it is good in no other deck type. If you are a new player, putting that much spirit into just one possible deck will limit what you can do later. If you like that style though, it is a good investment.

MYW’s

T2K5’s

Both MYW’s and T2K5’s builds feature 6 legendaries and 4 epics, all of which (except Titan) will see use in other decks. For strong decks, it is relatively cheap to acquire (they also don’t really use cards from the small expansions, so you can craft most of the list).

  1. I thought it would be a fairly popular card. Not because of its power level but because it gave a clear instructions on how to build a new archetype. It’s similar concept to Kazakus from Hearthstone or the Commander format in MtG. Easily recognized build arounds tend to be well received.

  2. I haven’t played much this month but I did come across once. It would have been more threatening if I wasn’t playing Spellhai.

  3. I’m going to be boring and say I’d make a minion that adds a unique spell to your action if there are no artifacts in your deck.

I really like cards that drastically alter deck construction for a payoff. I hope Counterplay makes more effects like this in the future

I think cards like this, that are competitively viable, are something that Duelyst will really need going into the future. As it stands right now 90% of the deck archetypes are some sort of Midrange/Aggro deck. They don’t have a specific win condition that they are build around and work towards in game. It’s just about "have more/better minions than your opponent on the board. There are a million ways to build midrange decks for any faction, but ultimately they all look the same/very similar because it’s all about playing minions.

Cards like Alabaster Titan that reward you for building your deck around them, ending up with unusual and unique builds would help the deck diversity a lot.

i love the idea of a competitive lyonar deck not using the faction’s staple cards like holy immo and trinity oath, very refreshing. ^^

I didn’t really make much of it. It’s a card that builds it’s own meme deck. It adds to the entertainment value of the game for somebody.

Last month, it was all over. This month, not so much. It was mostly just put into Argeon decks that wanted to play all of the dudes, but honestly- it’s just way worse than having access to Holy Immolation, Divine Bond, and Trinity Oath.

I wouldn’t. Cards shouldn’t be designed with competitiveness in mind, but should be errata’d over such concerns. Alabaster Titan is unique, and it’s better for the game as a whole if it stays that way. Cards that empower this deck, empower Tempo Argeon- not a deck that is in particular need of support.
