Some awesome mechanics here, but I dunno about the balance of some of them…
Card Design Contest - Community Poll May/June
Sad to see mine didn’t get any consideration. Better luck next time, I suppose.
My vote goes to Heatwave! I like cards that have synergies, and this one also puts some weight of decision making on the user. Do I still attack with the dervishes I have? Can I find weak targets to kill before sacrificing them? If I’m playing Zirix, do I BBS before or after I play Heatwave (both have positives and negatives)? I really like this design, @degenerator!
Good luck, with your entries folks!
When i was on the jury, we werent allowed to vote
i have opinions and you will read them
Soapy and sudz are cute, but lose points for breaking with tradition and having more than 3 letters in their names
Librarian just feels lackluster compared to the other entries. And Dying wish on a 0/4 minion?
Battlewrought duelist (should be spelled duelyst) is a nice value over time minion that is a clear choice for zirans healing power. (And lets be honest, she needs the love)
Heatwave balances that fine line between finisher and nerf thread waiting to happen. Its the obliterate, the revenant, the spiral technique, but for vet. Except with the potential for over 10 damage with only a few turns set up and a target for astral/third wish shenanigans
Windblade companion is worse than silverguard 80% of the time. Would have made more sense in magmar.
Shrine is interesting, but essentially a weaker bloodmoon that spawns stronger wraithlings with an extra strong incentive to have shadowdancer or kelaino on board at all times.
Silithar diviner feels weird. Its like young silithar + rancour. Might make eggmar viable though (young silithar + cascading rebirth for 6 damage!)
starfire obelysk would be the only reason to actually play stones to spears.
Darkspine mistress seemed odd at first, but then i saw the provoke. Its stats that refuse to go away that comboes perfectly with darkspine elemental, but is somewhat harmless otherwise. This could bring back shadow nova lethals (though with A LOT of set up)
Bound exorcist is nice no matter how its played. Hobbling and Trapping your enemy before dispelling your own guys for extra beefiness sounds like a Good time
Rumbling coffin is rather similar to cards ive submitted in the past cough creep vine cough and my cold abyssian heart loves swarms with dying wish. Not to mention the theme of opening a coffin to find a mummy spirit is great. It loses points for using bloodbond instead of the actual keyword blood surge though.
Any news on poll deadlines?
Whoops.
I like the battlewrought duelist the most, the design is actually quite simple however it creates an interesting minion which would be fun to play with or against. The only real downside is that the card cant start generating attack on its own, but rather needs to be attacked or buffed beforehand. This downside actually creates scenarios in which opponent compleatly ignores Duelist and hopes it won’t get buffed. I really hope devs get inspired by this design, one way or the other.
You should vote for my idea guys! (Battlewrought Duelist)
Why?
Because apparently it’s so broken, it caused an entire forum thread to be shut down. If that’s not meta levels of power, I don’t know what is.
But…part of the grading criteria is balance…
Well if you had added the requisite “y” in duelist we would have
@oranos gets it ^
Kudos on the design anyway! Argeon makes the drawback kind of moot but it’s still original and strong.
Rawr has more than 3 letters and is a battle pet. Just saying.

Behold the mighty Rawr!
With this fact I assume Soapy is even bigger than Rawr.
Simply bigger than 4-letter pet.
What about SOP and BUB or SO-P lol
So-p. I like that one the best.
SLP would be better. Slip on it and you’ll have a chance to receive eternal sleep.
Bound Exorcist is a poorly designed card.
The best stats for a 4 mana minion is 10 and that is with no ability.
This Minion has 16 stats and boast an incredibly powerful ability with no downside.
Seeing that opening gambits can be skipped in this game shows that it’s downside was given little or no consideration time.
I would suggest that this minion read.
4 Mana 5/9
The enemy general can only move one space.
This minion has -5/-5
Or 4 mana 4/11
Enemy units can move one additional space.
Otherwise its just an op backline card or an overstated minion with no downside.
