Not that I’ll ever afford it, but can I see the decklist for that? it sounds interesting
Boss Battles Discussion/Feedback Thread
I enjoyed the boss battle, although I think it would be interesting to have difficulty levels (either easy and hard mode OR easy, normal, and hard mode) available to players, and scale the rewards appropriately for completing a difficulty. This could also go in conjunction with making boss battles more stage-orientated, where you have to beat easy mode to unlock the next difficulty.
Besides that, one of the things I would like to see on the enemy general is his Bloodborne spell. Now, when playing against Calibero, you can tell by turn 2 that his BBS is “0 mana: equip a random artifact [Arcylite Regalia, Staff of Y’Kir, Sunstone Bracers] to your general”. While mainly an aesthetic opinion, seeing his BBS and being activated may clear up reasonings for him equiping a random artifact, or add another level of play to the fight.
I think Calibero should have a health increase, although this could be implemented in higher difficulties instead in order to make him easy enough for beginners. Similarly, I would like to see him have at least 2 types of spells (or more, based on difficulty) to punish the opponent for playing in certain ways (such as a healing spell and Atarauch’s tears, yet able to pull ANY artifact), and to add a greater surprise factor when playing against him.
Regarding boss crates, I think they are a fair price, as you get 3 orbs, a gauntlet ticket, AND a normal crate key to open a normal crate (which contains 3 cosmetic items), all of which costs more than $5.00, so I can understand why a time limit is placed on them due to the nature of this deal. If you add extra difficulties, I think you can get away with upgrading the key (rare or epic), adding more orbs or gauntlet tickets as rewards, and then raise the price proportionally.
Was fun - I played him three times, enjoyed it. Difficulty seemed fairly easy, but as people have pointed out, would be very challenging for new players.
Improvements - make him say some stuff, give us some backstory, add difficulty.
Looking forward to the next one
Tried twice, won twice, but was a fun change.
Hoping the next one is harder.
Will probably fight him some more for fun.
I really think Boss AI should be improved (AI in general), because at one point he ran away from my Zir’An who could one-shot him and proceeded to summon 2 minions, not even one of which blocked my path (I only had 1 path) towards him.
Edit:
Oooh I like this idea!
I play for 4 months, and I am in gold rank for the first time with my Deck Abyss that i normally use i could not pass in 2 attempts, but with a Deck Vet i managed to pass, although it was a hard battle.
Impressions:
For a new player is a hard battle , but for a veteran , is really easy , with a good hand and good Deck is really easy
For older players a bigger challenge would be needed, with AI being targeted to attack the general more directly and preserve more of their HP instead of wasting on random minions
For my is really good , nice job !
Really well done.
Because it’s still AI, some deck can make it really easy, while other deck may have a more difficulty time dealing with it.
exactly, i used a swarm deck that can barely break even in diamond and i won super easily. but when i used my control creep deck that i used to ladder up to S-rank, i lost so quickly (that celerity artifact really doesnt let you set up)
Can these bosses have emotes we can purchase? I think that’d be amazing!
The boss was pretty easy, too bad that there is only one level of difficulty. But I’m glad to try something new anyway
.
I enjoyed the battle with the boss, though I cleared it at the first try with a creep deck thanks to a missed lethal by the AI. Please find below my feedback:

It is really nice to have a way to collect a few extra orbs. Having a boss fight twice a month would be a cool addition to the game and it would help beginners in building a larger collection. I thus disagree on the criticism that the boss is too easy: sure, expert players with full collections can beat it at the first try, but I don’t think it’s so easy for beginners who are in particular need for the orb. I would love to see each boss coming in two difficulties, with the harder one requiring some nice deckbuilding setup and providing only cosmetic rewards. For instance, it would be already fine to have a badge (like faction badgets) counting the number of bosses defeated at the high difficulty level.

I missed the lore component of the boss battle. All this could be much more interesting if we were provided with some background information about the boss. Who is this guy? Which role does he play in the Duelyst world? Even minimal information and a little bit of setup would make the fight more exciting.

All cool and nice, but please notice that this is a very limited experience for players. I think most of us enjoyed it, but in half a hour I’m moving on the ladder again. It would be important to add other game modes besides boss fights to keep the audience interested (story, casual, whatever you like). I look forward to continuous draft mode.
Calibro gives up when he runs out of cards.
Beat him 1st try with my main Magmar deck. HE almost got me, I had 5 HP.
2nd try with my reworked Creep deck. I nearly won, but I lost.
The most fun I have had in game recently! But I wish they’d stay longer, I like this boss. Do they rotate?
EDIT: Seems everyone agrees he’s easy. I guess after 4 months I am still a noob?
The boss needs to be smarter, he doesn’t know how cards work, and is very bad at identifying what cards he needs to remove. A prime example of this is how he’ll kill wraithlings instead of going for the bloodmoon, if you don’t move. He won’t move either (unless he’s really low on hp), he won’t make any sort of plays to pressure your backline cards.
He decided he does not like pax
So he smashed pax in the face
Then he, screaming “MY FACE IS STRONGEST” attacked the two dervishes one at time
I replaced the other pax since that was too easy
I had some fun with him tho
That’s where you see AI is badly implemented.
Any decent human would have conceded when Variax out instead of waiting to be killed by boredom
Grandmaster Zendo- DEAD DRAW! Lol
Seems Rancour ability is too tricky for AI to understand and he still go face no matter what

Meh…
I beat it on my first try, with absolutely zero preparation or looking into, with the deck I’ve been laddering with. I didn’t find it particularly fun nor particularly challenging and 1 Spirit Orb as a reward (because I’m not going to spend money on a key) is also whatever.
Not trying to be negative, but I was not overly impressed with any aspect of it. Could take it or leave it.
