This is a grandmaster variax deck for Lilithe that has brought me from day 1 to day 3 to rank 3. i wont be playing this deck anymore (reached abyssian lvl 50), so cant tell whether its true potential is top 10 or just another s rank deck. if this deck was played at day 20, it would probably have gotten a higher win rate since season start is always the hardest climb, so i do believe it could be played for top 20 at ladder.
I will be editing this post with a better guide, but for now:
Mulligan: always keep gloomchaser and cryptographer. Keep furosa if you have cryptos or you have no other 2 mana drops. Keep wraithling swarm if you are playing second or if you have either gloom or crypto in hand.
Mid game decisions: bloodmoon is priority over shadowdancer when at close to full health, except when you want to minimize minions on board due to expected AoE removal.
Darkfire sacrifice works wonderfully with spectral revenant, keep that in mind for a turn 5 play. It is recommended to use it on the end of turn 4 at a wraithling if you have revenant on your hand.
Late game: variax wins game, but it is not your main win condition. Most of the time you win by flood + shadowdancer or revenant or even earlier by massive furosa + cryptographer combo. I have had people quitting a lot on turn 2 when I get the nuts as starting hand (furosas, criptos and a nice wraithling swarm tfor that double rune right off the bat). With variax, on your hand starting turn 5, keep it, do not discard it unless absolutely needed. Either wait for a darkfire sacrifice or just keep it for 3 more turns. If you can drop variax at turn 4 or 5, you have all the odds in the world to win the game (only lost once when I met that condition).
i tried some variations but did not count them on the statistics.
1 - necrotic sphere, vorpal reaper and nether summonings do not work consistently as you have to wait for a very specific situation for them to be efficient cards.
2 - horror buster does work specially with darkfire sacrifice combo, could be subbed for azure herald or wraithling swarm.
3 - reaper of the nine moons does work well also, unfortunately i didnt try it for long, but could be subbed for 1 lightbender and 1 azure herald (more than 2 copies seems over greedy)
4 - azure herald is your main option regarding subs as it is not a good turn 2 drop but does save you against heavy aggro.
1- Last list I made I was correctly criticised for using a small pool of games when showing a high WR. i tried gathering a bit more of data this season instead before posting. 44 games isnt a lot, but will have to do, mainly because i reached abyssian level 50 and i am going to grind something else now.
2 - I made a change to the deck removing 1 lightbender and 2 wraithling swarm and adding 3 nether summoning. i went 5-7 with the new changes so i discarded it from the data as it was not the same deck. on the same principle, i then discarded nether summoning and subbed in reaper of nine moons 5-0, but did not add that to the statistics as well.
3 - i lost a couple of games due by being greedy and using darkfire sacrifice without having a high cost minion game in my hand, dont do that, card draw isnt a strong point in this deck and shouldnt be disregarded
4 - this deck gets destroyed by almost any faie deck and has a hard time against agro, except vaath agro against which you have an advantage.
feel free to add me in game or give your imputs here, i will be glad to answer them.
