Hi there!
Below you can find my Lyonar build accompanied by a strategic summary:
Before even looking at the build, please consider the mental framework I utilized to make it.
-
Because of the replace function, 3 of’s for every “good” lyonar card is not necessarily optimal; an assortment of cards that produce a nice mana “curve” will often times produce optimal hands and keep the deck flowing for the whole game.
-
Provoke is an amazing and semi-unique ability for Lyonar, that when used correctly, can allow for very safe trade-offs and lengthy hand advantage throughout the entire game.
-
Creature removal (soft or hard) is key for assuring that your provoke monsters stay alive while still being able to attack the enemy general with it and your general.
-
Cards that can efficiently boost your hand advantage are key as the late game approaches. Therefore, it is important to have cards of this nature plugged in all throughout your mana curve.
-
In the late-game against a tough adversary, it’s the clever use of your combo & X-factor cards (and a little luck) that’s going to clinch the game.

CARD CHOICES (only mentioning the potential odd choices)
Bastion - Great card that preserves your provoke monster’s life. At 1 for deck consistency and because no space.
Corsair - A card I’ve been experimenting with since I fell in love with it via gauntlet. Provides very great attacke trades-offs when accompanied by a provoke monster. At 1 for deck consistency.
Ironcliffe - Why only two? Because I needed space for more stuff.
Going 1st Most Optimal Play?
Jaxi/Rock Polverizer/Windblade followed by bastion next turn (or a lasting judgement/martydom/maw on the monster they play if it’s too far or if my general can’t kill it).
Going 2nd Most Optimal Play?
Move forward and drop Windblade or Jaxi on the orb, then drop rock polverizer in front or maw and kill the monster they played
Results?
(I lost once cause of an AFK and the other two times a couple key misplays caused my demise)
Feel free to experiment with and positively critique the deck.
Stay tuned for a possible Songhai/Vetruvian Build next season!
