getting my old onix backstab deck back to ladder.
Any backstab deck runners to help me catching up with the new diffrences.
I had no idea where to start from with the crazy meta out there.
Any backstab decks?
What with Inner Focus nerfed to 1 mana, little to no backstab support in the expansions, and Enfeeble, an entirely backstab-ish Kaleos deck isn’t really ladder viable (I mean, you could mess around in Gold probably, but I doubt you’d go much further. Full on backstab Kaleos was never even all that great IMO).
That said, I haven’t seen the archetype much since Ancient Bonds. This is probably what I’d play if anything:
The reason why this type of deck isn’t played much anymore is because of the tempo difference with Inner Focus. You’re no longer getting much of that tempo since you now have to spend mana for it, which could otherwise contribute to more powerful plays. Still, I’ve seen it played with some success so it might be worth a try.
I haven’t seriously played BackStab Kaleos since the time of 2-draw (being a Songhai main - that means something), but did you check Bagoum? 18th position here seems OK: http://www.bagoum.com/tierlist.html
One of the decks there does even use the jaguar.
