Hello Magmar’s Version of Consuming Rebirth! How are you doing on this fine day!

The card… has its uses. The mana prices where Magmar has a lot of power are 4, 5, 6, and 7. For 4, Magmar has Drogon, Taygete, Elucidator, Grimrock, Veteran Silithar, and that seahorse guy. Other than seahorse guy, the others are all pretty nice. For 5, you can get Colossus, Spirit Harvester, Visionar, and the new Lava Slasher, all of which are pretty good, though Harvester may backfire. For 6 mana, you either get Makantor or Dreadnought. In egg decks, Dreadnought can be pretty good, and Makantor is Makantor. For 7, Silithar Elder and Unstable Leviathan are both pretty good, but leviathan might just loose you games.

If I were to make a change to this card, I would make it summon minions from your deck, so that you can build your deck to always get good results for each cost.

Buff something with Primordial Gazer

Bad card in my opinion. The synergy with Eggmar is not real: we lack good Rebirth minions in the first place. Also, it has RNG elements and I think it should be applied to a 3-mana minion to get decent value. Point is, Magmars typically don’t run 3 drops.

I think it can be good on Makantor after hitting, but it’s 8 mana and too situational.

Seems underwhelming. 2 mana to kill a minion and get random one that costs 1 more mana. Doesn’t seem cost effective especially if the higher cost minion could just be worse thanks to RNG and general quality of magmar minions.

Even with egg synergy it still takes a slot that could be better spent.

Only good use i could see for it probably to combo it with crysalis burst to guarantee atleast 1 minion surviving and possibly ramp a silithar elder.
Well this isn’t even bad i guess.
Unless it counts eggs as 0-1 mana minions in which case it’s just bad.

oh god this card is fantastic in my opinion because we can control what will spawn to a certain degree.

my question would be, will this card summon a battle pet? if i cascade a rex is there a probability of summoning Gro? because that would be very bad.

Actually after thinking about it some more i think it could be quite strong especially if it works on eggs.
With this you could relyably get a 5-7 mana drop from crysalis burst removing big portion of it’s RNG and if you get a dreadnought or silithar elder good luck for your opponent surviving it. Might be an actual 6 mana win condition.

Other use would be to buff a rush minion after use:

  1. Send makantor to clear the opponent’s board and spend 2 mana to buff it into a silithar elder or unstable Leviathan that the opponent will have to spend a hard removal on or just die.
  2. illucidator would turn into some reasonably strong minions, most notably the new 4/9. Worst case it would be a visionar or spirit harvester in some cases, i guess still would require a sucrifice of 4 attack minion or removal, not bad for 2 mana card.
  3. the new 4/9 could be buffed into makantor with 50% probability when near death to get an extra burst/clear or worst case turn a 4/1 - 4/2 into a 4/6 with rebirth, not too bad.

Overall if it works with crysalis burst as i undersood, it could potentially be on similar level to the new abyssian 6/6 arcanist but for only 6 mana compared to 8 from the latter. Might be slightly OP even. If it doesn’t (asumes eggs are 0-1 mana minions instead full value of the minuon inside the egg) it would be too situational to spend a card slot on it.

I am excited about the potential of having crysalis burst be worth playing. Also this would probably make magmar one of if not the strongest tempo faction in the game.
On the flip side songhai and argeon might become unplayable underpowered if this happens which would be quite bad.

Will also fit nicely into any Magmar deck that uses any opening gambit minions that leave behind a weak or undercosted body. Turn your Ephemeral Shroud’s worthless body into a random 3 drop? Upgrade a Bloodtear Alchemist or Primordial Gazer?

Will also pseudo-unsilence any silenced minion that gets its value from an ongoing effect. Someone silenced your Kolossus? Turn it into a Warbeast.

We need clarification on this. I would also assume eggs count as 0 mana minions, sadly.

Only realistic use for this seems to be at 8 mana, which obv is rather late, you swap your just used Makantor for an Elder/Leviathan. Not too bad, but not amazing either. And in most other situations Casc Rebirth is a bad value play.

Eh, I’m getting a lot of vibes from this card similar to mirror meld in the sense that they can both get out of hand if combined with other cards correctly. Also, do eggs have the same cost as the minion they summon? Otherwise, I don’t really see the egg synergy here. Could see play, but it’s hard to say.

My thoughts

  • Interesting card ,Eggmar continues to be the “technical deck” for Magmar and this card continues that trend.This card is right direction but I think the effect is better on a minion

  • The first thing that popped into my head is sarlac the eternal.2 mana give yourself 4 mana minion and keep your minion.

  • My second idea was Unseven.Every expansion I try Unseven Magmar being that Magmar has tool to abuse Unseven.They aren’t enough good neutral dying to be super scary but using cascading rebirth on could give you a Dioltas and 5 mana Magmar minion like Spirit Haverstor,Lavaslasher or Kolosuss

  • This card more than ever means that Wild interceptor should be a 3 mana minion.If it was a 3 mana minion you could on turn 5 look forward cascading rebirth on whatever rebirth you have young of veteran Silthar getting a minion and then using Wild inceptor to bring back the rebirth minion on that turn.A very strong play that establish a good board.

I’m pretty sure egg are their own card but for a rebirth minion that a free minion and if u can hatch the egg that’s positive value. This is great for magmar which is very vulnerable to dispelled making old minons hold value. Or you can have something g like ironclad and set off its effect.

the egg synergy didn’t go that way, i heard cascade don’t put the minion where it was, it put it in a selected spot around the target, so if you cascade a rebirth minion, you will summon a minion with higher cost and leave behind an egg from the cascaded minion.

Seriously hoping for more eggmar support than just this. It’s something, but… I feel it’s not that good.
Can be fun though, will have to play with it.

Oh, that makes more sense now, thank you :slight_smile:. Still, i’m a bit skeptical on the card as the whole… but getting a ‘free’ minion does make it seem more valuable.

Yes, it’s 8 mana, but it’s not that situational. Rush creatures can almost always get to your opponents general or at least hit something small somewhere and live. I find it hard to believe you wouldn’t get value out of makantor + this new card if you had them both on 8.
