Abyssian:AOE? (15C)

Which card do good abyssian players put into their deck to counter vetruvian flyingswarm or other swarmy decks?

abyss has wraithlings :sob:

breath is crap
creep is easily avoided
obliterate is an expensive finisher

edit: i ALWAYS forget about grasp of agony and necrotic sphere

grasp of agony is the best one, combo with deamonic lure to clear.

Spectral Blade is also good in combo with the aforementioned cards

They don’t deal with swarm unless they play into Grasp of Agony. Abyssian has strong single target removal, but their AoE is weak. Your way of dealing with it is having a swarm before they do (if you’re playing something like Swarm Lilitthe), or bursting them down (like in Burn Cassyva decks).

In a sense, your board has to be your AoE.

Can you tell us more about which decks you are struggling with? We all know Abyssian cards, AoE is not great for the faction, but maybe we can provide advices on how to deal with swarms. Also, which kind of deck are you playing?

Who needs AoE when you have a 18 attack revenant in your hand after they summon 6 flying things?

my point still stands, It’s not aoe

Swarm lilithe MAY eat you alive well before you summon that Rev. AoE is much more effective.

Then sorry, I can’t help you, I don’t have problems with swarm decks when I play Abyssian.

Thunderhorn can be good in conjunction with cards like Grasp of Agony, Daemonic Lure, and Nethermeld due to it’s ability being a pseudo AoE, and it is an overall solid 4 drop.

Breath of the Unborn is also an option if your interested in a more budget option. Against Vetruvian swarms, it deals with most unbuffed targets, yet struggles against Inner Oasis and one Breath does not clear Skywings by itself.

Necrotic Sphere is also a good option, yet it’s costly, harder to use/position and can be difficult to obtain if you don’t already have it from the Rise of the Bloodbound expansion.

Edit: I just remembered Sunset Paragon: this is an extremely good AoE tool if your facing against swarms with high attack, and is easier to use in comparison to Necrotic Sphere. It will deal with Flytruvian Flying minion swarms (which usually happen at 6 mana, so in the majority of cases their attack will be equal or greater than their health), and has a body attatched to it. Just be careful with how you place your units, as Paragon’s effect does affect your own minions.

some Big/Ramp Abyssian builds also consider EMP as an aoe answer despite its drawback.

Grasp is the way to go here. Along with Cass ping/Demonic lure you can blow up most of their field for half the mana they used to play it.

18 atk Revs are nice and all but chances are that the flying swarm will beat you to a pulp before you can even play him.
