It’s been suggested before. We need the ability to reject tips. I’d like an account option that disables the offer for tipping.
Ability to Reject Tips
It has? And why would you want to reject free gold?
Yes it has already been discussed, there :
https://forums.duelyst.com/t/can-we-get-an-option-to-reject-gold-tips/?source_topic_id=8591
… but be careful, thread ended up locked and contains utterly stupid assumption (some would say “alternative facts” these days) like this one :
I think a better solution that also contemplates other requests would be making the player that lost also capable of tipping his opponent. That way, in case they feel offended for getting tipped they can simply balance it out by tipping back.
Just out of curiosity tho: is there some sort of cultural reason for not wanting to accept tips? Cuz I don’t really understand why one wouldn’t want free gold…
In several cultures offering a tip at the workplace is considered insulting. It is taken as an implication that further motivation is needed to work hard and give it their 100%, which hard working people who take pride in their work ethic take offense to.
Well i dont know which part in Mordor that is occurring but here on earth we usually only pay people more money if they deserved it, not because we want them to play better or work more efficiently. If that was the case then damn i would sleep on the job to get paid for some “motivation”
Just stating facts. I’m not saying that I personally feel that way, but it is a documented fact that that is the general feeling in certain countries and cultures.
Expanding on this, I think some people do not want to receive tips in Duelyst the same way some people to not want to hear “good game” from their opponent- they view it as condescending and take it as an F you.
Here we go again. Just send me all the tips you dont want I gladly take them
Those people should tone down on the cynism. I mean, it is far from healthy to assume kind gestures are actually sarcastic attacks until proven otherwise
In France we don’t tip (because we got money for our work) but nobody (in our community) overreacted in this game because of tips ^^
It’s only a proof that was a good game for both players!
don’t treat games like some kind of a contest of pride.
it’s all in good fun.
Lolers I wasn’t born in a culture that finds it insulting to tip ppl in a online game where gold matters. I’m not sad about that I think.
Me thinks people are sore losers who must always deflect from their personal loss by finding any little things to blame or be mad at. But again I wasn’t born in placel close to being insulted by a online tip.
Culture is reinforced by family and society and since neither should matter in this online game… Ur duelyst family on the other hand would want you to understand Tipping is not a form of insult or bragging but reward for a good game (gg) or a understanding that the cheese was real and we got lucky. But these days who can tell what facts are or what reality is. Sigh
Tipping is, in any culture where it’s accepted, a way to see the service provided was acceptable.
Tipping within a video game is improper because you ARE NOT providing any service. Period.
Add in the fact that a list is recorded, and publicly posted, determining who the “top tippers of the month are”.
Tipping is NOT about giving anyone a “good game”. It’s about who can make that list. This tarnishes the very nature of tipping.
Then again; I may be wrong.
I just see it as free gold.
y u gotta be mad
*cough* YOU and some other don’t tip.
But a lot of people are tipping to show they are happy with the service, trust me.
Well damn, I must be some greedy asshole then
I’m in the camp of “go ahead and give me all the gold you want” BUT, since this feature has been requested multiple times in multiple threads by multiple people and it is ultimately harmless and easy to implement, is there any reason NOT to give players the option?
Just a quick setting in the options that a player can select to be ineligible to receive tips until they unselect it. I say give it to them.
Implement it : YES dgaf
Saying tipping is an insult : NO
Is it really? cause really the reality is they will deny a tip out of spite and we will be getting people asking why people deny their tips and a way to stop that. If we get enough people asking for that then what we change it again. Someone has to be th e adult and put th ear foot down.
But we have to think the worst of some people that
ask for stuff like this. We have a gold tipping top 100 list and anything anyone can do to mess with that list they will want. So giving some one a way to deny tips is a bad idea.
Plus you have to question a person who wants to deny free gold for a good or bad game but then more likely be getting stuff for free that would other wise should cost money.
I do not get the desire to reject tips. I tip people who give me a really fun battle, it is my way of saying thanks for giving me a satisfying game.
